Lillian's room

This is it. Lillian's room. We still need to put the curtains up and touch up a rough spot or two in the paint, but for the most part, it is done. Can't wait to bring our little Lilly Bug home and put her in her little crib.

I have to get the loud stuff out of my system

It's my day off and I spent the day recording this song. I had my amp up really loud to get all the feedback. It was a lot of fun. I figure I won't be able to be this noisy after Lillian is born so I better do it now!!

Our garage

I've been shooting a lot of pictures with my old Leica lately. My friend sam let me borrow his collapsable 50mm f/2. It's a great lens and it's been a lot of fun to shoot with a "real" camera again. This is a photo of our garage. As you can see, it needs a coat of paint.

Of course, one of the coolest photos i ever shot with my Leica is this one of Trayton and Spencer at David and Christine's wedding.

Amanda had me take these photos of her today so that we could remember what she looks like being pregnant with Lillian.

A cd for Trayton

To "celebrate" my nephew's success with guitar up to this point, and in an effort to get him even more excited about what he can do with it, I made him a cd featuring songs from a wide variety of bands.

Its got Pink Floyd because David Gilmour's solos have always blown me away. Its got The Ramones and The Clash because what better way to get a kid excited about guitar than a slew of I IV V power chords? (Trayton, the songs by The Ramones and The Clash are super easy to play!) The cd has Hendrix because how can you make a disc featuring cool guitar music and not have Hendrix on there? Its got R.E.M. from the band's Murmur era because while what Peter Buck did on that album is surprising simple, it was incredibly groundbreaking.

The disc starts off with a song from a band I used to be in. Recording has become so much more accessible in recent years thanks to programs like GarageBand than it was even 10 years ago. I actually like recording more than I ever liked performing. I guess the song from my old band is on here to show a "you can do it too" attitude.

The little play bar thing above here will play the song.

Anyway, here is the track list. The cd is going in the mail today.

And one last thing. Here's a video of Pink Floyd performing their song On The Turning Away. David Gilmour's guitar solo in the last half of the song is really cool. I wish I could play like that.

Back In Black

My nine-year-old nephew Trayton got an electric guitar last Christmas and has been taking guitar lessons. We were in Richfield yesterday for Drew's blessing and Trayton told me has learned 8 songs. I asked him what his favorite song to play is so far. His answer caught me off guard. He said his favorite song to play is Back In Black. I asked if meant the AC/DC song. "Yeah, I like AC/DC," he said. We went over to my brother's house after a while and Trayton brought out his guitar. I've never learned any AC/DC songs so I asked him to teach me how to play it. So he did. He's really picking it up. I can't tell you how cool it was to have my nephew teach me to play AC/DC. He also taught me a Weezer song.
