Some new music
Between the recording session in Colorado, and some personal stuff on my own, I've been recording a lot lately. It's been fun.
Here are a couple for you to check out. Just click the song titles.
The Tall J Stomp
The first is from the session with The Willkills. It's an instrumental I wrote a few years ago that we played when I was in the band. It was really cool of them to let me record it with them.
Down The Mountain.
For this one I got the help of some friends from the website MacIdol.com. I play all the instruments except one of the synthesizers, which is played by Dave who lives in Liverpool. The singers are from all over the world, which is pretty cool. The guy who starts the song off is named Mark and he lives in Iceland. Then a guy named Stuart from Ireland comes in. All told, people from Iceland, Ireland, England, Italy, Australia and various places around the US helped in the song. I love how the internet makes things like this possible.

Hang the DJ
Today my music blog is featured on the super cool Planet Mondo blog!
You can see it here.
A while ago I was invited to put together a mix for this blog. They often have "guest bloggers" for the weekly Funky Friday posts, and today I get to be the guest.

Sunday School -take 1

So today Amanda and I are teaching our first Sunday School class. We have the 15-18 year olds and this year, if you don't know, all the lessons are on the Book of Mormon. It should be a lot of fun and I hope our class doesn't think we're just a couple of boring old dorks like the way I thought all my teachers were boring old dorks.
I'm posting a zip file with some of the hymns I've recorded in it and also one arranged by my friend Micah. If you're in our class, you should download it. I think you'll like it. Also, if you're not in the class download it anyway. I've been showing these to some of the Mormon folks at work and they all say they like them.
Click here for a folder of five hymns.

I'm in Colorado
We just finished recording all the different parts for the album. The vocals are being "tuned" in the mixing room right now. This has been an awesome day. I'll write more about it in the newsletter at the end of the month.
If you watch the video I posted here, I set my camera on the exact drum set used in it. There wasn't really anywhere else to put it down so I set my camera on the snare.
Here I am using Black Flag's old amp. (You catch brief glimpses of it in the video I posted above.) After we were done recording and the engineer Andrew had gone home for the night, we went back into the studio and just messed around playing Cure songs and old Willkills songs from back when I was in the band.
I'll write more about this whole trip later. It's been such an incredible experience!

Going home

One of the interesting things about knowing lots of photographers is that anything you do can be photographed at any time...as was the case when Scott Sommerdorf drove up next to me on my way home from work the other night.
